Beijing 2008

Well, let me just say that the Olympics are my FAVORITE thing to watch- I've been looking forward to them all summer! I love to watch swimming, gymnastics, basketball, diving, track, cycling... oh, who am I kidding? I even like to watch the sports that I don't care about... today I actually watched water polo! And last night I thought that the archery looked pretty cool.... I even like to watch other countries- I don't care! I just love the Olympics! Wouldn't it just be amazing to be that good at something?


My favorite event thus far has been the Men's 4x100 Freestyle Relay. For those of you who missed it, here is the short version: the French had been trash talking the American's in the media, saying that they were going to "smash them". And, it looked like they might... until the last few meters when the American anchor somehow amazingly came back and outtouched the French guy by something crazy like 2 100th's of a second! WOW.


Anyhow, these Olympics are going to be the death of me- I stay up way to late watching them, and then really have to work hard to get stuff done instead of watching them... and tonight- the Women's Team Gymnastics competition.... oh my, I'm going to be tired tomorrow!

Myrtle Beach

Like I said, we just got back from a week in Myrtle Beach where my parents rented a beach house and we all headed down to enjoy our first family vacation in about five years... it was a blast!

My brother Steven and I drove down through the night and then Justin flew down halfway through the week to meet us there (he's taking a summer chemistry course that he just can't miss...) We had so much fun- the house was two blocks from the beach and we spent our days beachin', bikin', golfin', playin' games and getting in some good time reading! Kristin was great- she napped on the beach, "swam" in the ocean and enjoyed playing with her uncles. My brothers just adore her, and that was really fun to watch them hang out with their neice.

Raspberries and rollin' over!

Well, we spent a week in Myrtle Beach last week with my family and it was wonderful! More on that later, BUT the big news from the Geissinger household is that Kristin can roll over! (I know, we're really proud...) I tried to get it on video, but of course, she wouldn't do it, so here is a little movie of Kristin blowing raspberries (one of her favorite things since the recent discovery of her tongue!) , doing a "half-rollover" and just chattin' up a storm.

Summer Lax... done!

Well, most of you know that I spend my summer's coaching a club lacrosse team called Lanco Elite Lacrosse club. Its for girls in Central Pennsylvania who are looking to improve their lacrosse skills and get recruited to play in college. I really do love running this club which has grown from 20 girls to about 90 in just three years... This summer we had five teams going, with girls ranging in age from rising 6th graders to rising seniors- it was a blast, but let me tell you, coaching with a new little baby puts a whole new spin on things! Kristin went to all of my practices with me, as well as all of my tournaments.... she was a trooper! Also, I must say that it would have been even more of a challenge if it hadn't been for my mom- or should I say "Gram" who came along to most of my tournaments and took care of my little girl so I could coach my other girls...

Anyhow, its been a great summer season, but I'm glad to have wrapped it up this past weekend at the All-Star Express tournament in Annapolis! Now, let the planning for winter lacrosse begin!

West is Best

Well, I wanted to give a "shout out" to my dear friend Catie, who lives way out west in Bend, Oregon. Catie faithfully checks my blog every morning, only to be dissapointed by my poor blogging skills (or lack of dedication to it). Catie came to visit for a few days at the end of June, and it was wonderful to catch up and introduce her to my newest little love. Here's a picture of us at Prince Street Cafe before she hopped on a train to continue her tour of the east coast.

Welcome to the world, little Freakley!

My dear roomie from college, Katie and her husband Stu just had a little boy on Wednesday! Kate was due on June 29, so she was happy to get that little boy out, and he is just perfect... and BIG!

Daniel Stuart Freakley weighed in at 8lb, 7oz and was 21 inches long!

Congrats, guys! Let the adventure of parenting begin!
